The failure of the WSSD to seriously confront the environmental crisis highlights an increasing failure of social governance. World leaders cannot be relied upon to make responsible decisions. We at PED believe we have ten years within which to mobilize a critical mass of humanity calling for real change. A failure to act now will have disastrous consequences.

The challenge of the decade is to show that living sustainably is both an achievable and preferable option. This voice of sanity must be amplified to counter those generated by systems no longer serving the interests of people or our planet.

Peoples Earth Decade asks individuals, groups and regional and international networks to put forward suggestions for collaboration over the next decade. A draft proposal is posted for discussion.
